Chapter Sixteen -- KA model 3C

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

KITCHENAID MODEL K-3C MIXER

1950 Model K-3C - Model K-3B cosmetically re-designed. Has only a multi-purpose beater. There is no dough hook or flat beater made for it.

ATTACHMENTS

Coffee/cereal grinder.

Pea sheller

Citrus juicer

Ice cream maker

Post-war versions of the attachment (that went with the K5-A, K4-B, 3C, 4C, and so on) lack the indicator and were first made with both wood buckets. If I recall correctly, the wood-bucket units were made in two sizes. At some point the wood bucket was replaced with the green fiberglass unit, which came with a reversible stand that allowed use on either of KA's mixer offerings (tilt head or bowl lift).

Pelican slicer

Rotary slicer

Meat grinder

Can opener

Colander & sieve

Hot/cold water jacket

Splash shield

Pouring chute

Oil dropper

Knife sharpener

Silver Buffer

Ice cream maker

INSTRUCTION MANUAL

KA sold a kit specifically for conversion of the 3C plate to a 4C plate, so the 4C bowl could be used on the 3C.  The kit from KA included the replacement plate, and either a glass or aluminum bowl.

1955 KitchenAid mixers appeared in new colors at the Atlantic City Housewares Show… Petal Pink, Sunny Yellow, Island Green, Satin Chrome, and Antique Copper. (Interestingly, pastel colors for the kitchen were touted as "new" at the Chicago Housewares Show this past January).

  1. So glad I found your site.I have a model 3c,inherited from my parents. They got it as a wedding gift in 1955.I still use it. Disappointed tohear there is no dough hook or paddle attachment though. Is there anything I can substitute.Mine has a can opener attachment on front.
Can you direct me to where i might find parts and is there anything current on the market that I could use with this mixer? also do you have a link to the owner's manual for this model?I've tried some of the links on other pages but don't see what I need.

    Thanks,

  4. Looking for beater or attachment for KA 3c model

  5. Very excited to have found this site. I have a model 3C that was my mothers (we've had it since around 1962!!) and I've been using it for the past… almost 40 years!! Have been thinking about getting a new one, was considering the Pro, since I've done a pastry course and wanted to expand my baking. But truthfully, the 3C is working very well… very strong and I thought if I could find attachments, and perhaps a bigger bowl (I have 4.5 quarts, glass bowl, the bottomw is all worn and it won't screw in, I have to hold on to it when I use it). I'm very disappointed to learn that no bread dough hook or paddle were made for this model. Will anything else be adaptable for this model? I pretty much cannot make bread dough without the hook. Any suggestions or help is super welcome. Thanks!

  7. Hi, I inherited a Model 3C that is need of repair - new power cord, probably some internal work as well. Does anyone know of any companies that refurbish/repair Model 3C's? I live in NYC, but will ship the mixer. Thanks

  8. I'm looking for a beater for my Kitchen Aid Model 3C for making cookies. I have my Aunt's old kitchen aid and it seems to work fine but I only have 1 beater and I'm looking specifically for one when mixing cookie dough. Do you know where I would find attachments for the 3C

    1. There is only the one multipurpose beater. It works just fine for most cookie recipes. Any that it won't work for are too stiff for this little work horse.

  17. I have here a KitchenAid mixer model 3c, my wife explained to me that it was originally bought by her Great grandma! To witch date, I'm not exactly sure? I've found a model# under the base! But haven't been able to decode it! I was wondering by any chance you could be of help? Under the base on the non painted side! The # T-18236 exist just off to the side of the front mount! It still has what I've been told the original cork grommets placed in it for balance. Thanks for any help in advance!

    1. My mixer has the same # under the base. I inherited it from my mom but my grandmother was the original owner. It is a 3-C manufactured between 1950-54. I have the original owner's manual as well. Mine has never been repaired but doesn't have any problems. It wasn't used much for about 10yrs before I received it. I had to use it gently the 1st few times. Low speed and no peanut butter cookies. It's back to normal and handles my drop dumpling batter. If you have any questions, I'm happy to help.
